Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated October 5, 2026
Kwideo is professional video editing software from Elkwai Solutions, LLC. Core editing on Mac and iPad works locally without an account, advertising profile, or subscription. Free exports have limits and a watermark. An optional one-time Pro purchase removes those limits; purchases and restoration use Apple's StoreKit.
Data collection
Elkwai does not collect personal data from Kwideo for advertising or analytics. Kwideo does not track users across apps or websites and includes no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Its privacy manifest declares the user content and account identifier handled only when a user connects and uses the optional Frame.io integration.
Files and projects
Media, projects, recovery data, snapshots, exports, and settings remain on the device or in locations selected by the user. Kwideo reads files made available through Photos selection, Files, document providers, drag and drop, or operating system file access.
System permissions
- Photos imports selected media and saves requested iPad exports.
- Camera access records requested overlays, walkthroughs, and on-device character motion, using available built-in or connected cameras.
- Microphone access records requested voiceovers, walkthrough narration, and timeline audio.
- Mac Screen Recording permission captures the displays or windows selected by the user. iPad's in-app recorder captures Kwideo, not other apps' windows. Active recording has visible pause and stop controls, including when Capture Studio is closed.
- Speech recognition transcribes dialogue or voice input when requested. Kwideo requires Apple's on-device speech path and stops if that path is unavailable.
- Local network access on Mac supports user-initiated remote preview and distributed rendering.
Permissions can be changed in System Settings.
Media and local analysis
User-selected media may contain faces, voices, handwriting, location clues, or other personal information. Kwideo processes that content as editing material. Apple Vision performs subject isolation, foreground masks, and face/mouth motion analysis locally. Speaker analysis uses bundled on-device models to label recurring voices, not identify a real person or authenticate a user. Landmarks, masks, anonymous labels, confidence values, and timing remain in local projects. Kwideo does not send recordings to an AI service or use them to build an advertising profile.
Capture Studio recordings
Mixed walkthrough movies, optional isolated sources, and take manifests are saved in Kwideo Captures in the app's Documents folder. Sharing or adding a recording to a project requires a user action. Incomplete recordings remain local for recovery. Delete recorded files through system file storage; no copy is uploaded to Elkwai Solutions.
Optional sample media
The Sample Media browser can download the open-movie examples shown in the catalog when the user chooses Download & Import. Thumbnail and video requests go to the listed hosting services, including Wikimedia Commons and Google-hosted sample storage. Kwideo does not send the user's projects, source media, or editing history to those services. Downloaded files remain local project media and are subject to the displayed license and attribution terms.
Frame.io
Frame.io is optional. When connected, Kwideo uses Adobe authorization, stores the credential in Keychain, and accesses the selected account, workspace, project, folder, assets, and comments for requested review operations. A file is uploaded only after the user selects an export and destination. Adobe and Frame.io process that data under their own terms. Access can be disconnected or revoked.
Third-party plug-ins
Mac users may load installed Audio Unit or VST3 plug-ins. These are separate software controlled by their developers. Kwideo does not lower macOS security to load incompatible plug-ins.
Local review and rendering
Kwideo does not send Frame.io content to Elkwai Solutions. When a user starts a local-network preview or distributed render, selected media is sent directly to paired devices on that user's local network. This is not an Elkwai Solutions cloud service.
Deletion and revocation
Elkwai Solutions does not retain a copy of project media or Frame.io content. Delete local projects, recovery data, snapshots, or downloaded sample media in Kwideo or the operating system's file storage. To remove Frame.io access, disconnect it in Kwideo and revoke the authorization in the Adobe account.
Retention and security
Local data remains until the user deletes it or removes the app according to operating system behavior. Frame.io credentials remain in Keychain until disconnected, revoked, or removed. Kwideo uses Apple sandboxing, system permission controls, HTTPS, OAuth with PKCE, and Keychain storage.
Children
Kwideo is a general-audience creative tool and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children for Elkwai. If a child contacts support and identifies themselves as under 13, Elkwai will use the information only to answer a legally permitted one-time request or will delete it. A parent or guardian may request review or deletion at privacy@elkwai.com.
Support and website information
If you contact Elkwai outside the app, the information you submit is handled under the Elkwai Solutions Privacy Policy. Do not send payment-card numbers, passwords, government identifiers, or other sensitive information through the support form.
Contact and changes
Before a release adds an Elkwai account, Elkwai-operated cloud storage, analytics, advertising, identity-oriented biometrics, or another materially different data practice, Elkwai will update this notice and the applicable store disclosure. Where consent or another choice is required, the control will be provided before the new processing begins. Privacy requests may be sent to privacy@elkwai.com; product support may be sent to support@elkwai.com.
